	BIOGRAPHY
Choi Wong (Hong Kong) lives in Amsterdam and works in Amsterdam and Utrecht, the Netherlands.
In 2008 Graduated in Bachelor Graphic Design, at University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU) in Utrecht, in the Netherlands.

	
	ARTIST STATEMENTIn my art, I study people and their mutual connections. These relationships are a recurring theme. My work is an ongoing study, and each single work is a link, a next step in my process. Each work teaches me something about my relationship towards others, about mutual connections and bonds.Starting point for my research is found photography. The pictures allow me a glimpse of a world I long for but don't understand at the same time. By working with thread, the images are connected or separated, shaped and reshaped. Recently, I have experimented with Toyobo photopolymer etching as well. Toyobo is a beautiful, subtle technique that gave me the opportunity to enter deep into the pores of the images and play with ink and colours.Loneliness, power, control, dependency and trust are at the core of my work.

Copy /Paste, 2021

Installation COPY/PASTE especially made for Projectspacelokaal at Utrecht, the Netherlands . In a period of 3 weeks I researched a new form language for my work. Repetition and alienation are the words of the moment. 
In the former copy shop,&#38;nbsp; experimented with found images using a copy machine and combined this with collage techniques. Time pressure and my own handwriting resulted in the emergence of new forms that I had not thought of before, and on which I can now quietly reflect.

Prospects of a Bird, 2021

Printed on Somerset Satin White, 300 grams,&#38;nbsp;Commissioned by Grafisch Atelier Den Bosch, the Netherlands
In preparation for this project, I had a personal conversation with a participant (an ex-detainees) of Stichting Exodus*. During the conversation there was a birdcage with 2 parakeets in the room. I then went looking for found images that fit this narrative. Very intuitively and with trust in the process I found 7 images to make a large 'toyobo' etching print.During a period 7 weeks I have been learning&#38;nbsp; al lot this polymer etching technique.&#38;nbsp; With lots of trial &#38;amp; error.Toyobo is a beautiful, subtle technique that gave me the opportunity to get deep into the pores of the images and play with ink and colours.*Stichting Exodus is a forensic care organization that offers shelter and guidance to (former) detainees and their relatives nationwide with some 300 professionals and 1500 volunteers.

Blue Landscapes Installation

Cyanotype of found negative on cotton and wooden installation for Upscale Gallery, 2020Upscale Gallery is a gallery that is 10 times smaller than the real world, as it is a 1:10 scale model of reality.The fabric of this installation would actually be 2 by 10 meters. This concept allowed me to experiment freely and explore how I can make my works more spatial.

Exhibition overview  - &#38;nbsp;Caught in a View

Exhibition overview of solo exhibition "Caught in A View". From January 16th - February 21st at gallery Plaatsmaken, Arnhem, the Netherlands.The artworks for this exhibition have been created during my residency at Stichting Plaatsmaken using the darkroom and illuminator that are part of their screen printing facility. In this 3-month period I have experimented in this darkroom with old found negatives and the cyanotype printing process.In this exhibition I will take you with me on my journey of intuition through these old negatives, like a mesmerizing flow filled with a feeling of nostalgia, of connection, isolation, and that puzzling urge to fill, or at least try to, fill in the gaps.
